Having white porcelain skin seems to be the dream of every woman.
It is amazing to see how much my female colleagues spends on whitening cream, lotions, facial mask, etc. Some would even go for exorbitant laser treatments to get rid of freckles and pigmentation. Can you guess how much money goes to the skincare companies every year?
I am naturally blessed with fair skin and as such, I do not really need whitening products. Nevertheless, since my early twenties, I’ve avoided the sun like crazy, religiously slapping on sun-block, without fail everyday. To add on to that, I use an umbrella with UV protection whenever I go under the sun, especially during lunch time when the sun is at the strongest. The only time I would go under the sun is before 9am and after 5pm, when the rays are not that strong, since our body require the sun for vitamin D.
To me, a little bit of self discipline can go a long way. Think about it, the very reason why one gets tanned is primarily due to the effect of sun. Long term exposure to the sun also causes pre-matured aging of the skin.
By exposing yourself to strong sun ray for, say 15 mins each day during lunchtime, do you realize you would have subjected yourself to 91 hours (15mins x 365 days) of sun exposure each year.
By avoiding the sun, have you calculated how much you can save on whitening product each year?
